Common Collective - A Model For Residential Living

Now more than ever, many of us are experiencing social isolation. While we look forward to a time when we can connect with our friends and families again, for many, loneliness in our cities become more acute.

In 2019, Mason Studio began exploring the public health issue of social isolation in the aging population. We examined how design can reduce social isolation and loneliness, and the stigma around aging and aging in place.

Fresh Routes

Starting October 7, 2019, a new social enterprise brings healthy and affordable food choices into Calgary neighborhoods that face transportation or economic barriers. The Fresh Routes’ mobile grocery store brings fresh produce directly to communities where affordable, nutritious food is difficult to access. Mason Studio is pleased to partner with Fresh Routes, and a national social impact program, Brandvan, to help with the interior design of a retrofitted public city bus.

La Banane

In any environment, the experience of the guest is influenced and engaged by each of the senses. This is especially essential in a restaurant environment where every element is crucial to the overall dining experience. When working with Chef Brandon Olsen for his new French-Bistro, La Banane, he had a clear vision for each touchpoint of experience for his guests. To Chef, the banana has always been emblematic of happiness and contentment. Our studio worked closely with Chef Olsen and his team to integrate this sentiment as a driver for the guest experience and interior design.
